GROWING – Bay leaves are grown as a bush/tree and can be used for decoration in a garden as they are easy to shape and prune. It is best to buy them already potted and grown somewhat so you dont have to wait for years to reap them.
They are great for containers or planters and they tolerate both sun and shade.
FLAVOUR – Bay leaves have a sweet, aromatic flavour, especially when used fresh.
COOKING - Bay can be used fresh, or dried. The leaf is not eaten, but used for flavouring in sauces, stews and adding to rice.
HEALTH BENEFITS – Bay leaves are rich in vitamins C and A, especially when fresh. THey are also a good source of Folic Acid.
