- 1 bottle red wine
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 3 star anise
- 4 cloves
- 1 orange, sliced
- 4 slices lemon
- 50g brown sugar
On The Hob
- Put all the ingredients into a large pan. Bring to just below boiling, but do not let boil.
- Turn the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes to an hour.
- Ladle the wine into glasses and serve with a slice of the soaked orange in with it.
In the Slow Cooker
- Turn the heat to high and place all the ingredients into the pot. Heat for 20 minutes, ensuring it does not boil.
- Turn the heat to low and leave it for at least 2 hours.
- Ladle the wine into glasses and serve with a slice of the soaked orange in with it.
Some recipes add brandy to it to strengthen the taste.
