- 500g lean, fresh beef mince
- 1 onion, peeled and grated
- 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 2 tsp fresh ginger, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp garam masala
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 2 tbsp freshly chopped coriander
- —————————
- 1 large, ripe mango, finely chopped
- 1 small red onion, finely chopped
- 1 red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped
- 2 tbsp freshly chopped mint
- 1 tbsp freshly chopped coriander
- Juice of a lime
- In a large bowl, mix all the burger ingredients together. (Top 7 ingredients)
- Shape the mixture into 4 burgers, then, cover and chill in the fridge for 20 minutes or more.
- Mix all the salsa ingredients together in a bowl. (Bottom 6 ingredients) Cover and set aside, but not in the fridge.
- Cook the burgers on a BBQ, or griddle, or in a frying pan, having brushed with a little oil, for 6-8 minutes each side, until cooked through. Keep the heat medium so you do not char them.
- Serve burgers with the salsa, with or without the buns and fries.
I don’t recommend frozen mince as it generally holds too much water to stick together.
This is a good recipe for doubling, putting in a tub and freezing for another meal, or for if there are only two of you.
